13 Tips For Being The Most Powerful Witch You Can Be

Here are my 13 tips for becoming the very best witch you can be...

1. Challenge Dogma – be a different witch. If you don’t believe in this or that deity, or this or that way of doing things, just don’t do it! Everyone walks their own path, and you will find that what works for some will just not work for you. Most importantly, be careful not to become dogmatic yourself when you HAVE finally discovered your witchcraft path.

2. Cultivate a childlike wonder. Don’t be one of these people who get to the age of thirty five and suddenly become old before their time, weighed down by responsibilities and trite platitudes and rigid ways of thinking. A powerful witch is forever young inside, their brain has a magical and childlike curiosity. They constantly learn new things, keep up with new technologies, and are amazed by the scale of the universe and the grandeur and excitement of it all. Their imaginations are thus kept fresh and ripe for powerful creative spells!

3. Surround yourself with positive people. Obviously there may be people in our lives we are obliged to be nice to and support because they are relatives etc. but know your limits and don’t be a sucker for punishment – emotional vampirism or excessive martyrdom are not acceptable traits and should not be enabled. Bullying and violence are positively unacceptable. Sometime a witch has to send someone out of their lives, with love, of course. Remember powerful witches need powerful focussed minds to create effective spells.

4. Get the best equipment you can afford – but do not be limited by it. Weave love and positive vibes into your cloak, your Athame, or your Chalice. Honour and bless the tree that gave you your wand. But at the end of the day, be prepared to sit down at the spur of the moment and cast a quick spell in your lunch break at work with no tools whatsoever. Magic is most powerful when the need is genuine – so a witch must be versatile and travel light where necessary.

5. Spend as much time as you can outside in Nature and with animals. You may or may not believe in the actual Spirit of Gaia or the spirit if Pan, but the energies are very much there to be experienced and to empower the work of the witch. Muggles, and indeed modern witches too, often spend far too much time cooped up in offices or sitting crook back in front of a screen or tablet. Stand tall and go outside, to hear the roar of crashing waves or the soft tremble of leaves in a forest glade. Outside the air is clearer, the energies cleaner, more vibrant, the potential for magic so much higher.

6. Look after your body. A witch may be channelling unseen powers of imagination and magic, but she or he is still a part of this world. The functioning of the brain and imagination and deeper levels of consciousness are directly affected by the health of the body. Eat clean, exercise regularly, and deal with bad habits such as smoking or drinking. A witches mind must be clear and your energy levels as high as they can be for optimum magical success.

7. Do not waste time. Limit your consumption of trivia and reliance upon social media. A witch, or indeed anybody at all, should not be spending their short existence doing pointless things. What a waste of time that could be spent doing amazing empowering things, and crafting great spells! Apart from anything else, the media is a constant source of negativity, comparing our lives and bodies and striving for unrealistic/unimportant goals, which have no relation to the aims of an enlightened witch. By all means educate yourself with the technology available, and amuse yourself, within reason, with positive media – but if there are better things you could be doing, and well you know it, get doing them!

8. Be thankful and positive, whatever your situation. Sometimes it is hard, of course, but no problem was ever resolved by wallowing in misery. Faith and trust in your magic is one of the absolute fundamentals of the witches work – so you will only truly create powerful spells if your mind is as pure and positive and vibrant as it can be.

9. Don’t attempt to “convert” others. There is nothing more unlikely to convince the average intelligent person of the benefits of the pagan path (or indeed any path) than irritating attempts to convert. It is a waste of time, effort, emotional and mental energy. Far better to be a living example, a shining successful witch whom everyone wonders what your secret is. And then, when they ask you, you can tell them then!

10. Cultivate your powers of imagination. The secret to doing powerful magic and being the best witch you can be is to use your formidable will power and imagination. The clearer and more intensely you can imagine the outcome of your will, the more crystalised and amazing your spell results will be.

11. Recognise that magic is sixty percent spell crafting, forty percent effort. If you can get the job done right now with your own two hands, get started! Always take physical, practical steps towards your magical goals – complement your wand work with a little sweat from your brow – show willing and the universe will supercharge your efforts and create far more powerful spells for you than for the witch who sits back and does nothing after the circle is closed. Want a brilliant new career? Do the spell, then fill out some job applications to help the universe along!

12. Never stop learning. So many people in this world stagnate. They are stuck in a rut of their own making, doing the same tedious tasks over and over again. In witchcraft, as with life, you get out of it what you put in. If the ingredients in the cake are unvarying then your cake will always turn out the same. Ie if you are not happy with your life and the outcome of your spells right now, be a sensible witch, do something different, learn something different, try a new path or approach. Be mentally versatile and always searching for new ideas to try.

13. Don’t believe everything you read – find your own way in life. A powerful witch is healthily skeptical and weighs up the options and the world by herself. Take advice, but don’t worship at the feet of others so long that you forget to form your own opinions. After all, what would I know, I’m only another witch?
